NPLI Racial Equity Value Statement

PLTI-KC is an affiliate of the National Parent Leadership Institute (NPLI). PLTI-KC aligns with NPLI’s racial equity value statement, education, awareness, and action work.

NPLI Racial Equity Value Statement

NPLI is a non-partisan, parent-centered, and anti-racist organization that partners with parents and other community leaders to increase racial equity in policy and practice, advance a healthy democracy, and improve child outcomes through the civic engagement of families. Racial equity is both a value and a verb for NPLI, and in our work, we operate with respect, inclusivity, integrity, kindness, and innovation to create partnership, equity, and growth.

Our Values

  • Parents are Assets

Parents are assets and the backbone of our organization. They are experts on issues affecting children, and their voices and experiences drive our work at PLTI-KC.

  • Stronger through Diversity

The diversity of our community fosters understanding, accountability, and inclusion. Our program brings together parents from different backgrounds to promote anti-racism, equity, and social justice. We strive to create a welcoming and valued community for all.

  • Nurturing Community

Advocacy is a collective effort. PLTI-KC is a community that intentionally nurtures meaningful relationships, builds trust, and fosters connections to support parents and their advocacy efforts. We prioritize self-care and establish boundaries to ensure longevity in our efforts.

  • Self-Awareness, Reflection, and Curiosity

To be influential parent leaders, we must know our biases, strengths, and weaknesses. We embrace a growth mindset, practice Intellect over Emotion, and seek out community members who complement our skills and hold us accountable to ethical and equitable advocacy practices. We also accept new perspectives with deep listening, curiosity, and openness.

  • Parents’ Agenda is Our Agenda

PLTI-KC is a nonpartisan organization that prioritizes parents' concerns for children. We assist parent leaders in community projects and collective actions on issues that matter to them.

  • Two-Generational for Lasting Change

The civic activism of PLTI parent leaders influences their children & grandchildren, who become leaders and advocates in their own right.
